![]() This past July, was the annual California State Fair at Cal Expo! Get Networking Now! members Kristina Carstons (Abacus Accounting Solutions), Mary Hurst (Mary Kay Cosmetics), Robert Pierce (Farmer's Insurance), John Book (Aim High Specialties) and Robin Fisher (Le Spa Day Spa) were among 35 volunteers throughout the Greater Sacramento Area. Get Networking Now's founder, Rebecca Johnson, led the group of Volunteers as her company, My Social Media Pro, spear headed the "Social Media Help Desk" (a first of it's kind at any public event!). Johnson was selected to head the program by the State Fair, which included coordinating and staffing the booth daily, to answer questions about QR Codes, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Mobile phones. The fair had implemented QR Codes at county exhibits, in the barn with the animals, the gardens and other places throughout the fair. For part of the time, Johnson's company donated the use of a Social Media Photo Kiosk where fair goers could take branded pictures and share their experiences online. Everyone had a blast working and can't wait to do it again next year! For more information on the California State Fair (#StateFairCa) visit Bigfun.org . After a long and arduous battle with GoDaddy.com, we opted to mix things up a little bit and change the URL from GNNCentral.net to GetNetworkingNow.net , and we couldn't be happier!
Get Networking Now has had it's share of troubles in the dot com world, with web designers holding the original url hostage, to games being played by the "big boys" who claim to be customer centered. This time, Go Daddy, decided I needed to pay $350 to renew my one day late, registration; which I also realized I never received an email notification that it was going to expire. So there, is the down and dirty of internet "games", we have to play in order to keep what was a good thing, going! *Vent Over* So we are back. Still Networking.
